Assistant Manager, Japanese Communication Support

Job description
The Japanese Communication Support Assistant Manager will mainly support internal cross-functional teams in communicating with their counterparts at Square Enix Japan but will also work with the merchandise team to support their merchandise events. Position contingent upon experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide Japanese-English bilingual communications support with accurate translations and interpretations from Japanese to English and vice versa while working with the marketing and PR teams to ensure tasked projects progress in a smooth and timely manner.
- Translation assignments include but are not limited to, emails, meeting agendas, notes, product evaluations, marketing materials, and PR materials.
- Interpretation assignments include but are not limited to, internal/external meetings, conference calls, press conferences, developer interviews, and panel discussions.
- Work as a trusted liaison for all regions, providing cultural insight to help teams gain a better understanding of regional strategic differences.
- Support onsite operations for Square Enix America events including but not limited to merchandise trade/consumer shows.
- Assist with PO processing and invoice tracking.
- Assist with keeping internal tracking documents and communications up to date.
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Japanese and English fluency in business and professional settings with excellent bilingual spoken, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Acute attention to accuracy and detail in delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.
- Highly organized, efficient, and productive with the ability to multi-task and maintain a heavy workload on an ongoing basis in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment working towards common goals.
- Flexibility and willingness to independently navigate areas of unfamiliarity (i.e., takes initiative and works well with little supervision).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with privileged information.
- Strong word processing and other computer skills.
- Positive and willing to take on new opportunities and challenges with energy and enthusiasm.
- Willing to work outside traditional work hours to communicate with personnel in different time zones and support events.
- Willing to travel frequently both domestically and internationally to support events and meetings.
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Japanese and English fluency, both spoken and written, in business and professional settings.
- At least a year of professional translation and interpretation experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Previous experience translating with CAT (computer-assisted translation) tools is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Travel:
- This position requires travel (domestically and internationally).

Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $85,000 base
