The Production/Process Engineer position provides technical expertise to operating areas to maximize profitability and to optimize plant operations. This position provides for a safe working environment; assists in the training and development of operators, team mentors, and supervisors; provides support and assistance to the engineering function; controls product quality; assures process integrity; and compiles data used in support of engineering projects.
Major Responsibilities of the Production/Process Engineer Include
Monitoring of Process
SAP lab data
Statistical Process Control
Process Trends
Standard Operating Procedures
Revise SOPs due to process changes or new information
Author new SOPs sections/documents
Review technical portions of procedures.
Management of Change Coordinator for Production Department
Facilitate or initiate MOC’s.
Contribute to change process as Process Subject Matter Expert Evaluator
Process Technical Adviser
Act as end-user at capital project design review meetings
Support both Capital and Expense project work through each phase.
Support HAZOPs, Process Hazard Analysis
Support production conclusions when technical knowledge is required.
Support other business groups when process knowledge is needed.
Process Improvement
Monitor Asset Utilization/Downtime for improvement opportunities.
Spearhead or assist AU improvement effort or investigations.
Controls Engineering
Configure minor controls improvements.
Monitor reliability of the DCS
Troubleshoot DCS and controls issues.
Complete Critical Safety Interlock Checks
Alarm Management Support
Eliminate nuisance and stale alarms via alarm strategies and using process technical knowledge.
Focus on Operator Feedback for alarm loading.
Rationalize alarms and establish proper ranges.
Maintain alarm documentation.
Production, Utility, and Raw Material Reporting
Maintain daily/monthly RMU program for the plant.
Coordinate with Finance Team on month close activities
Plant Troubleshooting
Assist in plant troubleshooting as necessary with focus on process issues.
Expected to be on-call for plant support.
HSE
Guide and or contribute to incident investigations as needed.
Complete environmental releases calculations
Perform targeted audits.
Support Environmental Permits and Compliance
Support Plant Safety Initiatives.
