CNC Machinist Tech.
Shift: 2nd
Pay: $20.79
SUMMARY: Directs the flow of material from start to finish, prepares/maintains documentation records, and reviews system transactions as necessary for accurate and timely disposition of material. Work is performed following general work instructions according to established trade and shop practices. The employee exercises decision making and some discretion regarding specific procedures and work methods to complete given assignments.
This position requires the ability to program, setup, and operate multiple CNC and mechanical machines including lathes, mills, and various mechanical and CNC presses. As a machinist group leader you will lead a fast paced collaborative environment challenged with variable product and order mixes ranging from one-off production runs to longer runs of multiple days while maintaining high quality and on time delivery. The group leader will be responsible for monitoring all programming, setups, and general attributes of CNC and mechanical machining processes. Qualified candidates should possess an Associate’s Degree or trade certification in CNC machining or possess equivalent experience (3-5 years) in the programming and operation of CNC and mechanical machining processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizing and layout work requirements for the first and second shift.
Documentation of all orders processed when completed.
Fill in as needed to assist other employees in all operations.
Observes or monitors process and equipment to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
Works effectively with others in a team based environment to accomplish company goals and to identify and resolve problems.
Possess the ability to read and interpret complex to simple shop drawings and bill of materials.
Must be able to solely write, modify, and interpret CNC programs; create and fabricate custom jigs and setups as needed.
Must be able to set up and run mechanical equipment such as lathes, mills, punch presses and other mechanical equipment.
Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, venire height gages, plug gages, and other various measuring instruments.
Have excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other basic programs.
Must follow and observe all safety rules and regulations and maintain a clean and safe work area.
Adheres and audit 1st and 5th piece quality inspection procedure.
Ability to multi-task and continually prioritize tasks to be completed throughout the shift.
Produce a quality product in reference to supplied drawings.
Must possess extensive experience with carbide and high speed tooling, and fabricating custom tooling when needed.
Perform other related duties as prescribed by supervision.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
An employee in this class is an extension of the supervisor and performs various duties associated with leading employees in the set-up, operation, and preventative maintenance of light pole line operations and equipment.
Monitor and enforce Safety, through proper PPE and procedures.
Monitor and enforce Quality, 1 st and 5 th process and work with Quality department to correct non-conforming items.
Monitor, correct and report team non-conformances.
Run system backlog to establish job priorities by due date.
Identify any jobs that need expedited, including NCR and RMA jobs.
Monitor and report any deviation from established hourly production rates.
Line up incoming jobs to ensure efficient flow of work. Including parts i.e. ID tags, labels, gaskets, etc.
Must be able to communicate to team and supervisor on issues that affect the area.
Must be able to accurately take direction and help implement to team.
Must monitor team clocking and ensure parts/poles are transferred in the system.
Must communicate and work with other department leads and supervisors.
Must ensure delivery of finished product to the next station.
Report any tool or equipment malfunction or operational issues.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of experience as a lead person and skilled machinist with CNC Programming experience. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and perform trigonometric and geometric calculations.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to be an extension of the supervisor and work in a team environment and participate, contribute and support all team activities. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Efficient in problem solving; ability to address obstacles and adapt accordingly.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for the entire shift. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Proper lifting techniques required.
