Job description

Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.

Job Description

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the refinery and gold room.

Job Responsibilities

1. Clean the electrowinning cells and cathodes to remove and recover gold bearing sludge.
2. Maintain the cathodes, anodes, and bus bars to ensure proper operation of the electrowinning cells.
3. Operate the Finishing Table to produce a gold bearing concentrate.
4. Prepare gold bearing sludge and concentrates for smelting.
5. Shovel precipitate into furnace and operate the smelting furnace
6. Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
7. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
8. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
9. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
10. Work safely in all areas and identify potential safety hazards and work with management to correct them.
11. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
12. Perform other duties as required.

 

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  2. One year mill operations experience preferred.

Skills

  1. Must be able to take a blood test and a urine test on a regular basis for health monitoring reasons.
  2. Must have a solid ability to administer first aid for chemical and thermal burns.
  3. Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  5. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  6. Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  7. Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists
