Job description
Serve as the ministry associate for the associate vice president for Convention Advancement and Relations, offering support in every area of the Convention Advancement and Relations division’s work as well as providing administrative support to the work of the Convention.
Specific duties and responsibilities
Assist Convention Advancement and Relations
- Assist in strategic planning and implementation of overall ministry objectives.
- Cultivate a working relationship with cooperative partners including, but not limited to state conventions, associations, SBC entities, SBC EC committees, ethnic leaders, and maintain a database of such.
- Coordinate and assist in the planning, setup and tear down of the Ethnic Fellowship exhibit space, Cooperative Program stage, CAR hospitality suite at the annual meeting and various ethnic events.
- Work with the SBC entities in obtaining the information used in the annual Book of Reports.
Assist Cooperative Program and Stewardship
- Coordinate and assist in planning a yearly CP off-site retreat, as well as a bi-monthly digital CP Summit, ethnic leaders on-site meetings, and strategic planning meetings.
- Maintain the state conventions annual meetings information and coordinate attendance with the SBC EC Leaders.
- Keep inventory of Cooperative Program materials, order when necessary and ship to events as requested by team members.
Provide General Administrative Duties
- Oversee administrative tasks including but not limited to regular communication, correspondence, travel and events for the associate vice president for Convention Advancement and Relations.
- Answer emails, phone calls and letters received at the office of the Convention Advancement and Relations, church affiliations/disaffiliations along with the Cooperative Program. Manage and compile updates on the department budget. Complete check requests and expense reports for the department.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist with the mission of the Convention Advancement and Relations and the SBCEC.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or equivalent experience in business management, office management, or similar field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet.
- Cultivate an understanding of multiple ethnic cultures.
- Become proficient with SBC Workspace.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Be a member of an SBC church and understand the culture of SBC life.
- Knowledge of the workings of the Southern Baptist Convention, Cooperative Program, and the Executive Committee.
- Travel to annual meeting locations and various retreat locations
- Primary functions require physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 30 lbs.
