Shop Utility Worker Job Summary:
The Shop Utility Worker is tasked with carrying out various general labor activities to assist the company's operations. Responsibilities include crate building, laser marking, operating a radial arm drill and bandsaw, and participating in overall warehouse tasks. The role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic, capable of excelling in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Production Manager, the position also maintains a dotted line connection to the Manufacturing Manager.
Shop Utility Worker Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe and tidy workspace, adhering to company safety standards
- Construct crates and pallets for shipping industrial equipment
- Plan and execute work order procedures, gathering necessary tools and materials
- Utilize various tools, including hand, power, and pneumatic tools, for cutting, drilling, forming, and grinding
- Load and unload machining centers as required
- Maintain and organize equipment and workspace cleanliness
- Report faulty equipment or defective materials to the supervisor
- Adhere to all safety guidelines from company safety training programs
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects with department colleagues and other teams
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Shop Utility Worker Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with standard shop tools and equipment, such as cut-off saws, radial arm drills, and handheld devices
- Fundamental grasp of design techniques, principles, drawings, and tools essential for accurate production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints
- Willingness to learn basic welding technique and introductory CNC machine operation
- Strong proficiency in reading and comprehending assignments presented in various formats
- Foundational understanding of mathematics
- Thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Sufficient manual dexterity and stability for precision work
- Close-range visual acuity
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Proven experience collaborating in diverse team environments, adept at working both independently and cooperatively with colleagues and co-workers
Shop Utility Worker Credentials and Experience:
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Trade School preferred
