Description:
The Pathologists Assistant II (PA II) works under the Pathologists supervision, in the non-diagnostic areas of surgical pathology. Non-diagnostic duties for anatomical pathology consist of, but are not limited to: - Prosection, external examination, evisceration, dissection, tissue selection, and tissue banking. - Obtaining pertinent clinical information and history, including scans, x-rays, laboratory data, etc. - The PA II provides training of new employees and students, to include offering guidance, assistance, and direction to less experienced personnel. - Participates in the evaluation of new instruments. -Participates in developing, reviewing, and revising policies and procedures for the department. -Actively participates in correspondence, organization, and other related activities for clinical research.- Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures-- ie. the use of specialized instrumentation, quality control requirements, and preventative maintenance.

Bachelors Degree in medical technology or related science preferred.Completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) program for Pathologist Assistant, certification by ASCP preferred. 1-2 years previous experience as a PA required.***Pathologist Assistant certification by ASCP***BLS-AHA certificationThings to ask References:How are their communication skills?
