The Wardlaw+Hartridge School prepares students to lead and succeed in a world of global interconnection.

The Wardlaw+Hartridge School, located in Edison, New Jersey, seeks a collegial, engaging teacher who finds fascination in teaching adolescents in grade 9-12. Candidates with interest and experience to assume the role of English Department Chair are of particular interest. The position includes sections of Upper School English and trimester electives that best align with the candidate’s experience and departmental needs including the possibility of AP classes (AP Literature or AP Language). We seek an experienced educator who is adept at using literature to explore essential questions and equip students with skills to think critically, read deeply, and write effectively. Those with a strong commitment to working as part of a thoughtful and reflective team are encouraged to apply.

Department Chair Responsibilities: 

Successful candidates will be experienced, dynamic, and resourceful educators who are keen to participate fully in the life of the School, including effectively collaborating with colleagues, engaging in a continual cycle of professional development, actively joining community events and gatherings, meetings, and working to uphold the mission and vision of the School. Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission and core values of Integrity, Opportunity, Support, Diversity, Community and Sustainability. 

A Bachelor's degree and three or more years of teaching experience. A Master’s degree is preferred.
