The ideal candidate for our Director, Accounting Projects builds relationship, possesses an innate desire for continuous innovations, and thrives in a collaborative environment that involved effective communication with our business partners across the organization. Primary responsibilities include supporting business partners throughout Invitation Homes with respect to accounting-related matters and coordinating with Technology with respect to Yardi (our financial system of record), general ledger management, ad hoc reporting, and ad hoc projects that support the accounting team and the overall business.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Work with accounting and other business partners to provide system and analytical support.
Develop and maintain relationships with various business unit leaders across the organization.
Build and manage partnership with third-party provider of managed services for outsourced accounting activities.
Perform in-depth financial reviews for Invitation Homes’ owned and managed portfolios of homes.
Manage the day-to-day activities of staff to execute assigned financial accounting reporting activities, complete monthly and quarterly accounting closes for the general ledger system, and provide managerial reporting and analysis.
Prioritize and perform special projects and other tasks as assigned.
Establish and maintain systems and internal accounting controls to verify the integrity of the Company’s accounting, systems, processes, data, and financial reporting.
Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
Manage and develop a team of accountants and analysts, including staff development through identifying, onboarding, training, and mentoring talent.
Identify areas for process improvement and take the initiative to develop and implement enhancements in coordination with the rest of the Accounting team.
Exhibit proficiency with the Company’s general ledger and operational system: Yardi Voyager, SalesForce and other systems.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree is required for this position. MBA or Master’s in Accounting preferred.
Minimum of ten years’ experience in accounting.
Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience.
Public accounting experience highly preferred.
Real estate industry experience is a plus.
Yardi experience is preferred.

Accounting Technical – deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and extensive financial reporting experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other productivity software.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Required Licenses or Certifications
CPA designation is preferred for this position.

Hybrid work schedule.
Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis; overtime may be required for this position.
Physical and Mental Demands
This position will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The position may also entail light lifting of supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds in addition to reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. This position requires the ability to talk, hear, compare, compute, compile, copy, analyze, coordinate, synthesize, negotiate and communicate. Salary Range
$98,775.00 - $171,210.00Compensation and Benefits
