Job Summary
As a Pipe Fitter, you will be responsible for the layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping systems. Working from blueprints and project specifications, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning and integrity of pipelines. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering work of the highest quality.
Job Description
- Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of piping systems.
- Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required shapes and sizes using hand tools and power equipment.
- Assemble and install a variety of pipes and fittings, including copper, steel, and PVC, ensuring proper alignment and connections.
- Weld or braze pipes when necessary to complete installations.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as welders and project managers, to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to specifications.
- Inspect and test installed systems for leaks, weaknesses, or other potential issues.
- Perform routine maintenance on existing piping systems, including repairs and replacements as needed.
- Adhere to safety standards and protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Keep accurate records of materials used, work performed, and any challenges encountered during projects.
- Stay informed about advancements in pipe fitting techniques, tools, and materials.
Skills Required
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Degree or Equivalent
- NCCER Pipefitting training
Additional Requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience of industrial/commercial pipefitting.
- Piping system knowledge.
- Experience working on welded, threaded, grooved, plastic, and copper system.
- System knowledge of Hydronic, Natural Gas, and Compressed air systems are a must.
- Must be able to read prints. Understand ISO pipe drawings.
- Basic Rigging skills is a must.
- Perform layout of piping systems.
- Local to the Dayton area, willing to travel 1-1.5hrs from shop location (Tipp City) for work.
- Shift Hours: Mon-Fri. Shift will start approximately 7:00am and candidates can expect to work 4-50hrs/week
Pay Rate/Salary
- Starting at $40 - $45 /hr depending on experience. Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skill set and / or location.
