How you make a difference
As the Psychiatrist in this role, you will take on the crucial responsibility of overseeing the admission, continuing care, and discharge processes for patients. Serving as a leader within the multi-disciplinary treatment team, you will provide guidance and expertise, ensuring cohesive collaboration. Additionally, active participation in performance improvement initiatives and other related activities will be integral to enhancing the overall quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform initial psychiatric assessments within 24 hours of admission, creating comprehensive treatment and discharge plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Administer psychotropic drugs and employ various modalities according to practice guidelines, monitoring tests and consultations while providing education to patients and families.
Conduct daily rounds on the unit and document ongoing care, discharge readiness, and treatment summaries, including a mental status exam within one year of admission.
Ensure meticulous documentation in patient medical records, adhering to state standards, Joint Commission regulations, and maintaining the quality and legibility of written orders and progress notes.
Take a leadership role in overseeing overall medical care, treatment plans, multi-disciplinary teams, staff and student supervision, and clinical activities; actively participate in patient admissions, evaluations, and discharge processes, contributing to the facility's goals and effectively prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications.
