Job Summary:
The Propane Sales Representative will be expected to maintain our current customer base as well as develop new business in the area. This will be achieved through prospecting and winning new business in the Central Virginia region of Virginia. This position is remote but must be located in the Charlottesville/Lovingston region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for meeting with current and prospective customers to solicit business within a geographic area.
- Visit with potential and current residential or commercial customers to provide an estimate based on their propane and appliance needs.
- Follow up with all leads and ensure all communications to support and build the brand
- Perform cold calling and new business development for Propane Systems and Products within the region.
- Provide proper communications (personal, electronic, voice and written) with customers on product pricing, availability, and quality.
- Communicate effectively with local service technicians and service managers.
- Actively communicate with customers from initial lead until final payment is received.
- Understand the technical aspects of product quality, logistics, pricing, and customer risk management strategies
- Understand the competitive landscape
- Address customer service concerns related to billing, invoicing, and pricing as they arise and escalate as necessary.
- Responsible for attending Chamber of Commerce, Community, Industry, and Trade Show related events
- Work with the marketing department to support the business development in the region.
- Generate leads for other product offerings as needed.
- Take part in the collection process.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years professional sales experience
- High School Diploma
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to increase market share and customer retention.
- Ability to generate a high closing rate through a consultative selling approach
- Must maintain active target customer accounts and prospect lines
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to work remotely and communicate effectively with department management
- Requires daily travel throughout the sales region
- Requires office hours as needed
Preferred Skills:
- Industry knowledge would be a plus.
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing or a related field.
