Our mature company has a deep IP portfolio of 735 issued and pending patents, more than any of our peers. To strengthen our team at the Redmond location, we are looking for a Commodity Manager. Pay: The pay range for this Washington-based position is $119,000 - $136,000. Exact compensation offers will vary based on skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for a new hire equity grant and/or a performance-based equity incentive plan. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Align supply chain commodities and strategy from new product development through end of life.
- Manage relationships and escalations from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrable understanding of the following: Optical/photonics engineering and MEMS design, mechanical design, and manufacturing processes
- Working with contract and/or outsource manufacturing.
- Create and clearly communicate supply and demand schedules, priorities, and status to multiple internal and external stakeholders. Analyze, communicate, and monitor the impacts of changes to the supply plan with operations team.
- Execute strategic business objectives while collaborating with key internal stakeholders to improve the supply chain with the latest internal and external information.
- Manage overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, cost, and quality improvements.
- Develop, communicate, and execute end-to-end product demand and supply plans to support all products.
- Design, develop and maintain scalable and reliable analytical tools, dashboards, and metrics that drive key decisions and resource prioritization.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams on sourcing strategy, market analysis, trade-off analysis reviews, and supplier roadmaps with engineers to support cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Work with a cross functional team to drive the supplier selection process and component qualification using engineering and commercial best practices/disciplines.
- Negotiate costs with suppliers through use of projections, business/technical acumen, and competitive bidding.
- Work closely with engineering to understand and define standard and custom component requirements, deliver accurate component costing, should cost modeling and capex projections.
- Drive manufacturing operational readiness of suppliers, including planning long term forecasts, purchase order readiness, daily production plans, capacity plans, raw materials, finishes, etc. Anticipate and mitigate production and operational risks, including cost impacts.
- Applies knowledge of commodities and commodity market trends and serves as an expert in influencing, leading and driving project implementation of supply chain strategies and development of short- and long-term goals for management consideration in support of customer requirements.
- Up to 10% international travel may be required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Must have automotive experience and knowledge of APQP/PPAP.
- Self-starter mentality: must be willing to dig in and quickly understand priorities, as well as collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
- High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities while simultaneously executing responsibilities.
- Ability to think strategically and execute systematically.
- Experience with supply and demand planning functions, including S&OP, order fulfillment, inventory health, forecasting, and forecast modeling.
- Contract development and negotiations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to proactively and effectively update MicroVision’s senior management team.
Summary of Education, Experience & Certifications - Bachelor's degree in the supply chain, business, engineering, computer science, or related field.
- A minimum of 8 years experience sourcing in a manufacturing environment with demonstrable understanding of key business practices and cycles relative to manufacturing life cycle, engineering life cycle, and program/product development. commodities management, and/or supply chain experience.
- Experience in processes, and supply chain for consumer electronics, preferably LiDAR, semiconductor, or other technology utilizing mechanical, electrical, and optical components.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex overseas supplier relationships.
- In-depth knowledge of the consumer technology market, especially managing agreements with partners and third-party suppliers.
