Job description

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites. 
The Clinical Lab Technologist will perform all tests within the scope and responsibility of the Laboratory according to the laboratory policy and procedure manual. Perform any related clerical duties.

Responsibilities:
• Perform QC
• Operate automated instruments, monitor and maintain daily
• Perform all manual procedures including, centrifugation and pipetting with accuracy
• Maintain and update logs for procedures that must be logged into proper record books 
• Use all infection control procedures
• Use of laboratory equipment: centrifuges, pipettes, microscopes, stainers, cytospin, mixers, vortex mixers, computers and QC programs
• Recognize pediatric, neonatal panic values
• Review results for consistency with age and sex of the patient

Qualifications:
• Position requires at least a bachelor’s degree in a physical science, medical technology preferred
• New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required
• Laboratory and hospital information system computers, variety of automated equipment and other laboratory equipment is required
• Experience with centrifuges, pipettes, microscopes, stainers, cytospin, mixers, vortex mixers, and QC programs required

This position is located at the Moses campus in the Point of Care Testing Lab. The hours are 12:00 pm -8:30 pm with alternate weekends.
