Job Summary:
Associate Technical Director – Broadcast Operations and Services
The Associate Technical Director is responsible for technical broadcast elements required for Broadcast Production radio, television and internet projects at Disneyland Resort. They will collaborate closely with internal partners to advance the Walt Disney’s Company’s business goals and further engage consumers with the Disney brand.
- Plans and orchestrates all technical elements of all assigned Broadcast projects to ensure successful broadcast productions
- Provides in-field technical supervision of video production, radio/TV broadcast production and still photo production projects
- Assigns and supervises technical personnel
- Specifies, obtains, and maintains resources necessary
- Assists Broadcast team on field and post-production planning efforts
- Ensures immediate response to operational and technical problems within Broadcast
- Supervises operability of department equipment (lighting, camera, production equipment, edit bays and transmission systems)
- Keeps abreast of current technology and standards to evaluate new products, both hardware and software-based, and makes recommendations as appropriate
- Partners with Line Producer to purchase or rent support equipment as needed
- Budgets and works with scheduling of department personnel, production company and equipment
- Collaborates with the Event Planning, Operations & Services leadership for talent planning
- Provide day-to-day and project-based direction to front-line/support cast with a focus on teamwork, open collaboration, and communication
- Deliver feedback and coaching as needed
- Cultivate positive relationships with partners, agencies, production companies, and other relevant stakeholders
- Ensures quality and conformance with current broadcast standards
- Ensure all department standards, processes, and expectations are followed by team
Core Skills
- Knowledge and experience with elements of the broadcast industry: video cameras/camera techniques, broadcast equipment of all formats and standards, analog and digital video signals, audio equipment/techniques, lighting equipment/lighting design, and editing systems
- Experience engineering with fiber optics for transmission of video and audio signals
- Knowledge of signal flow and transmission methods for satellite and internet
- Knowledge or experience with TV News operations and with non-news production environments
- Ability to troubleshoot complex signal paths and/or broadcast systems
- Ability to negotiate with production companies for a variety of production roles and services
- Ability to create a positive and collaborative team environment
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure and tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
Requirements
- College degree or relevant experience.
- Min. 3-years of experience
- This job requires a flexible schedule that includes working nights, weekends, holidays
- In event mode, required job duties can be physically demanding, outside in the environment and sometimes in inclement weather
The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $84,500.00-$113,300.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
