Job description
We are seeking for a Senior Unix Administrator to lead a highly technical team of IT professionals in designing, implementing, and sustaining systems and infrastructure for Army research and development (R&D) efforts. This individual will work with a cross-disciplined team of network engineers, Windows administrators, information assurance personnel and other Linux administrators providing expert guidance and delivery in varying projects and day-to-day operations. This individual will work with the customer to determine work priorities and obligations daily and will seek to distribute and oversee the work of others on the team. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for both the customer and employees in delivering service excellence to end-users.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
- 8+ years of experience managing Linux systems in an enterprise environment.
- Must meet DoD 8570, 8570.01-M and AR 25-2 training certification requirements:
- At least one relevant industry Computing Environment certification, from vendors such as: CompTIA, Red Hat or Cisco.
- At least one relevant industry Information Assurance certification, from vendors such as: CompTIA, GIAC or ISC2.
- A high level of expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, versions 5.x through 8.x, to include patching, troubleshooting, creating user accounts, and writing scripts to accommodate user requirements, on both physical and virtualized servers.
- Experience with testing servers for STIG or SRG compliance and remediating any findings/vulnerabilities to bring Linux systems into compliance with Government defined security requirements.
- Experience developing and supporting system management automation tools to deploy, patch, and monitor servers in Perl, Python, and/or Ruby.
- Experience managing network services such as DNS, LDAP, Kerberos and NFS/Samba.
- Experience with VMWare software including VSphere, Xen, and VirtualBox Infrastructure.
- Willingness to work on-site as required by customer.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with being/willing to be a Technical Lead on-site.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of experience with Technical Leadership.
- Large enterprise environment experience preferred
- Experience generating various documents, including CONOPS, design documents, diagrams, and other related customer deliverables.
- Experience with Microsoft Visio.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in managing help desk, network troubleshooting, and support, as well as active directory enterprise, network management software and tool suites (i.e., MS SharePoint, NetIQ, Nagios, and Multi Router Traffic Grapher (MRTG)).
- Experience working with networking hardware and protocols.
- Experience working with host and network-based security.
- Experience with the Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Confluence, Trello, etc.).
- Experience with the MS Office 365 suite of tools (Teams, Planner, Outlook).
- FAR 889 regulation familiarity.
- Experience with financial forecasting and planning.
- Experience drafting job descriptions, interviewing and vetting candidates to include executing on-boarding processes.
- Experience managing and tracking project tasks and performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short-term and long-term goals.
- Experience in developing processes and procedures to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Experience establishing and facilitating agile project management techniques.
