The role requires a CWI certification, 5 years of quality assurance experience, and 2 years of proficiency in steel and welding. However, candidates without the CWI certification but possessing the required experience can obtain certification upon joining.
Position Summary:
As the Quality Assurance Supervisor at Valmont, you will serve as the primary interface with customers, ensuring the quality of Valmont products. Your role encompasses overseeing quality at the Salem site, conducting internal and external inspections, audits, and implementing procedures and specifications. Collaborating with various stakeholders, including vendors, customers, and internal teams, you'll develop quality assurance strategies and action plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Report directly to the Operations Manager, overseeing the Quality Assurance Department.
Collaborate with site leaders to recruit, manage, and develop QA Inspectors.
Develop and enforce inspection policies and procedures in alignment with customer requirements and internal stakeholders.
Conduct internal quality audits and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for enhancement.
Ensure timely production scheduling and capacity planning.
Collaborate with Sales and Engineering teams to prioritize projects and ensure accurate production scheduling.
Monitor production performance and resolve any scheduling discrepancies.
Coordinate material availability and adjust schedules accordingly.
Review and resolve MRP exceptions to maintain production efficiency.
Develop and maintain relationships with external suppliers and customers to improve product quality and processes.
Provide career development opportunities for direct reports.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, Associate’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience.
Leadership experience in Quality or metal fabrication.
Familiarity with Quality Assurance tools and methodologies.
American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
Proficiency in NDT techniques and welding processes.
Competency in MS Office Suite
Able to travel up to 10% (internationally/domestically)
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional leadership experience in Quality or manufacturing roles.
Level II certifications in MT and UT.
Degree in welding, business, or related field.
Analytical and decision-making skills.
Production control and scheduling experience.
Familiarity with IFS and Main-Frame computer systems.
