As Chief Autonomy Architect you will design and oversee execution of various complex autonomy programs for BlueHalo. In this role, you will collaborate closely with multiple engineering disciplines including software, systems, test, mechanical, and electrical engineering to establish system level architectures and make technical decisions to execute programs. You will drive cross-functional product integration activities, and you will work closely with the division director to expand BlueHalo’s autonomy portfolio.

Location/schedule: this role is based in Huntsville AL and will be a hybrid schedule, meaning you will have built-in work from home days (not 100% remote).

You’d like to do this:

• • Be a customer facing engineering lead to support government funded R&D programs
  • Identify hardware issues and work to find resolutions, keeping projects on track and avoiding schedule delays
  • Architect & manage product architecture and other system level design documentation
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and act as a SME for technical decisions
  • Help define, scope, and manage technical requirements to meet program objectives
  • Lead integration development between software, autonomy, embedded, and hardware teams
  • Act as scrum master, leading teams using Agile project management through field testing and integration
  • Occasional travel to provide product support at field testing sites

You will also be responsible for:

• Present work products and strategies to customer leadership and other stakeholders
• Define and execute the technical approach to large programs
• Define systems engineering and test engineering infrastructure as needed to support development efforts
• Investigate software problems discovered during testing and determining a course of corrective action

You’re required to have this:

• • A minimum of 20 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering
  • An active DoD SECRET security clearance
  • Experience with C#, C++, C, Visual C#/C++, Java, Ada95, Perl/Tk, Qt SDK, Python, Unity 3D Engine, ROS
  • Development experience in both Linux and Windows on a variety of platforms
  • 5 years of experience as a chief engineer in an autonomy-related program
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Possess a demonstrated record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards
