Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Artificial Intelligence (Open Rank)
School of Information Sciences

The School of Information Sciences (iSchool) at the University of Illinois invites applications for full-time, tenure-track faculty positions at all ranks. We welcome applications in the broad areas of artificial intelligence (AI), including but not limited to:

• foundation models
• AI for social good, social justice, and social change
• human-AI interaction
• machine learning (e.g., deep learning)
• natural language processing
• trustworthy AI, explainable AI, automated methods that support the FAIR principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable) and / or FATE (fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics)
• data / text mining, graph mining
• data ethics
• data storytelling
• domain informed data science
• knowledge representation
• network science
• data science

At the iSchool at Illinois, we employ methods from across the disciplines to grapple with society's most urgent challenges related to information, its practices, and technologies. Our faculty are global experts in such areas as AI, HCI, data curation, information policy, and network science.


The iSchool at Illinois is home to an interdisciplinary doctoral program in information sciences and the top-ranked professional master's program in library and information science. We also offer professional master's programs in information management and bioinformatics, a licensure program in school librarianship, as well as an exciting undergraduate degree that reimagines a liberal arts education for a global information society. Appointment Information


This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 9-month basis. The expected start date is August 16, 2024. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
