Position: Lot Porter
Reports To: Sales Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lot Attendant is responsible for maintaining vehicle presentation, lot cleanliness, and correct signage for all vehicles at the dealership. The Porter will check in new vehicles being delivered, reposition vehicles on the lot, and ensure test-driven vehicles are free of clutter.
Realize that during any interaction with customers, the employee should remember the HERO (Helpful, Exceeds expectations, Represents us well, takes Ownership) program. Also, the customer is the highest priority of any employee of Wilson County Motors.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Ensures all inventory is displayed correctly on the lot and in the showroom.* Re-arrange the front-line inventory daily to provide the best curb appeal and vehicle awareness.
- Ensures that open spaces are filled immediately.
- Ensures that all lines are uniform.
- Ensure that proper (required) forms and/or stickers are displayed properly.
- Thoroughly inspects and starts every vehicle on the lot once a week and corrects any cleanliness or reconditioning issues immediately. Logs all issues with the pre-owned sales manager if it is beyond the lot attendants’ ability to correct or get corrected. Remove any vehicles that require significant reconditioning requirements from the retail lot until such time that they meet the minimum reconditioning standards. Log all reconditioning requests for time-to-resolution tracking.
- Rearranges the entire inventory on the first of the month according to instructions received from Sales Management. The Lot Attendant must proactively request these instructions on the first day of the month.
- Thoroughly cleans vehicles purchased when the Detailer is backed up or not at the dealership. Ensuring that our guests are taken care of properly takes precedence over other activities.
- Put gas in vehicles as required.
- Meticulously inspect vehicles delivered via freight and report all problems (no matter how minor) to the delivery company and management immediately.
- Maintains display products (i.e. – balloons, flags, etc.).
- Continually polices the lot and ensure it is free of all trash.
- Assist in the transportation of vehicles, team members, and guests as instructed by sales management.
- Maintains stock of dealership-branded license plates, license plate frames, adhesive stickers, key boxes, key tags, frequency transmitter-blocking boxes, balloons, flags, and other similar products. Alerts sales management in ample time to order replenishments.
- Clean all Courtesy Transportation Program (CTP) loaner vehicles, service shuttles, and other dealership-owned vehicles as needed but a minimum of once per week.
- Checks the dumpster enclosure inside and out daily and correct cleanliness issues.
- Assists dealership with special displays and the storage of products for such displays.
- Other facility maintenance tasks as needed.
- Any other activities that contribute to the dealership's profitability or that are assigned by management.
REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to provide favorable results from a drug test and criminal history review.
- Ability to safely drive automobiles and light-duty trucks using a manual or automatic shift.
- Ability to use a computer or laptop for work (Computer Literate)
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and/or in written form.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
JOB EXPECTATIONS and REQUIRMENTS:
- Arrive at your place of work on time as scheduled.
- Hourly employees must clock in and out using the Company’s time recording system.
- Be safe at all times.
- Take care of our guests.
- Ensure the lots, the dealership’s inventory, and dealership facilities represent exceptional standards.
- Request additional work from sales management if you run out of specific tasks.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Properly represent Wilson County Chevrolet Buick GMC Hyundai at all times.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May be standing for up to 100% of the shift and operating machinery applicable to the job. It may require lifting, pushing, or pulling weights of more than 30 lbs. Duties will be performed indoors and outdoors. Time may be spent outdoors regardless of weather conditions, and driving will be required at times regardless of weather conditions.
