Accounting and Finance Operations Specialist Job Description: This position is responsible for executing the day-to-day operational activities that support functions of the credit union's core processing systems as well as managing functions that have a regulatory and monetary risk impact. Functions are time-sensitive and must be adhered to using policy and procedure. This position also supports other departments on branch or member issues that require immediate resolution.
What you will do as the Accounting and Finance Operations Specialist: - Administer debit and credit card programs by performing card maintenance, orders, and reorders as well as processing lost/stolen cards, disputes, chargebacks, and CAM alerts
- Monitor card and disclosure inventories at the vendor and coordinate the re-order of inventory
- Process electronic deposits and payments and exceptions
- Process and post daily share draft files and return deposited Items file, making appropriate adjustments
- Perform bill pay-related requests to ensure members have proper access and account information is accurate
- Assist staff with member issues as they relate to accounts, transactions, statements, and credit and debit cards
- Notify the Operations Manager/CFO/CEO about monetary risk-related problems where there could be the expectation of a loss to a member of the credit union
- Print and mail daily, weekly, and monthly notices to members
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, maintaining balance, and providing documentation as requested/required for reconciliation
- Process and post monthly vacation funds, dues, death benefits, political action fund deductions, and apprenticeship training fees from union locals
- Run skip-traces for unclaimed payroll and mail out letters
- Create imaging reports and documents to ensure proper documentation of completed tasks
What you will bring to the Accounting and Finance Operations Specialist role: - High School diploma required; Business degree is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to use basic mathematics and have a solid understanding of financial concepts such as personal budgeting and cash management, checkbook balancing, debt management, loan amortization schedules
- Knowledge of banking operations and processing, internal controls, reconciling, and data processing systems used in credit unions
- Basic knowledge of accounting used in credit unions
