Job Description

The Environmental Services Technician will enjoy a great work environment and stability! There are multiple shifts available and pay for shift differentials. This position is required to work M-F plus every other weekend. Applicants must pass a background check and drug screen and include three references. 

Pay starts at $14 and up based on years of experience. 

The EVS Tech – Housekeeping position performs environmental services cleaning work in a health care setting with a high priority placed on customer service and will interact with patients, staff, and the public on a daily basis. The Environmental Services Technician will perform cleaning routines in an acute setting, including but not limited to patient care areas, restrooms, specialized procedure areas, public areas, offices, clinics, and other ancillary areas. The Environmental Services Technician will work in areas where they follow infection control and PPE procedures/guidelines and will handle soiled linen and regular and medical waste. The Environmental Services Technician will maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in their assignments and will receive specific training with regard to a healthcare environment. 

Job Details:

• Perform established cleaning functions in assigned areas, including stocking supplies, high dusting, sanitizing discharges, daily cleans, sanitizing high-touch areas, restroom cleaning, emptying wastebaskets, floor dusting, vacuuming carpet, floor sanitizing, etc.
• Practice fundamentals of patient communication.
• Perform daily, discharge, or transfer cleaning of patient rooms, including bed stripping and re-making.
• Use isolation cleaning procedures as required by hospital infection control.
• Clean equipment, including IV poles and pumps.
• Make corrections when traveling about the facility, such as picking debris off the floor, emptying trash, and reporting cleaning needs.
• Assist in cleaning of emergency spills observed or requested.
• Follow universal precautions and procedures when handling and transporting large quantities of trash, Bio-Hazardous Waste Material, Sharps containers, and Clean/Soiled Linen.
• Properly use cleaning chemicals, labeling and mixing, and wearing appropriate PPE. 
• Will be required to understand and be able to explain the use of chemicals and how to find the safety data sheet.
• In case of fire or other internal/external disasters, perform department duties as assigned.
• Will use cleaning devices, including microfiber pads, wet mops, wringers, dusters, commercial-type vacuum cleaners, and other necessary tools, products, and supplies.
• Climbing ladders for window/light/vent cleaning and changing privacy curtains.
• Observing and reporting maintenance issues that need repair, such as equipment, furniture, and building fixtures.
• Attending department meetings and ongoing training 

Required Qualifications  

• High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired. 
• Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
