Roux Summer Research Intern - Medical Simulation About the Opportunity Summer Research Internships at The Roux Institute The Roux Institute Summer Research Internship Program is a 10-week full-time internship for graduate and undergraduate learners on-site at the Roux Institute campus of Northeastern University in Portland, ME.

Research Intern - Medical Simulation We are seeking a research intern to contribute to our ongoing project on enhancing medical simulation through augmented reality (AR) and haptic feedback. The intern will work closely with our team to study the effectiveness of incorporating haptic feedback into an AR-based neonatal care simulation using the Hololens device.
Responsibilities: - Assist in designing and building AR simulations and Haptic models to build a POC system
- Assist in designing and conducting experiments to evaluate the impact of haptic feedback on learning outcomes in the neonatal care medical training simulation
- Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data on perceived outcomes, stress levels, and perceptions of healthcare workers during the simulation
- Collaborate with the team to interpret and present findings in reports and presentations with a goal of publishing this work at the end of the summer
- Contribute to the overall research project by assisting with other related tasks as needed
Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g., biomedical engineering, computer science, or similar)
- Strong interest in medical simulation, augmented reality, and/or haptic feedback
- Experience with VR Design and Development or Software Engineering & Development
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
