Job Description:
Our client, a full service managing general agent specializing in workers' compensation insurance, is seeking a Senior Production Underwriter. This position will be work-from-home with some on-site work requirement in the Brentwood, Tenn., area.
Responsibilities: - Manage an existing renewal book of transportation agencies, including assisting in the development and management of agency business plans for new business production.
- Operate with increased independence, such as taking a lead role in the development of agency business plans.
- Manage book of individual renewal workers’ compensation accounts and maintain pricing discipline regardless of market pressures.
- Serve as a transportation workers’ compensation expert for assigned agencies.
- Coordinate account activity across departments for assigned book, including guaranteed cost, large deductible, excess workers’ compensation and third-party administrator claims contracts.
- Assist in the development and coaching of support and professional staff.
- Perform external marketing activities and clearly articulate and sell the company's difference.
- Provide general guidance and direction to support personnel and underwriting staff.
- Take an active role in face-to-face meetings with agencies and clients.
- Work independently within assigned letter of authority and seek guidance on any unusual or complex exposures, problems or issues.
- Expect periodic reviews by supervisor, corporate underwriting and direct customers of the process.
- Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Respond positively to direction and critique of performance.
- Consistently maintain professional and appropriate demeanor.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of workers’ compensation underwriting experience
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Full knowledge of workers’ compensation policy and underwriting rules
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to discern when to use telephone, email or more formal means of communication
- Demonstrated presentation and negotiation skills
- Valid driver's license in good standing
