Job description
As the Senior Aquatics Director at the CCA YMCA, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Aquatics Department that includes a year-round indoor pool and a summer camp Lakefront. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and managing the department's budget, directing program activities to align with community needs and CCA YMCA objectives, and innovating our offerings to enhance membership sales, engagement, and retention. You will be at the forefront of fostering collaborative relationships with community organizations and working closely with Human Resources to recruit and motivate a skilled aquatics team. Your oversight will ensure compliance with training, certification, and safety regulations, alongside managing the CCA YMCA Swim Team and aquatics rentals. Additionally, your involvement will extend to teaching swim lessons and other aquatic classes, securing grants to support our mission, participating in professional networks, and exploring off-site aquatic opportunities to promote water safety. Your leadership will guarantee the safety and success of our aquatics programs, including the Y Summer Day Camp Lakefront, positioning our YMCA as a beacon of health, safety, and community well-being.
Our CCA YMCA is located in Southern New Jersey; we are just 45 minutes from Philadelphia and 45 minutes from beautiful South Jersey beaches. We serve communities in Cumberland, Atlantic, and Cape May counties. There are multiple wildlife and outdoor activities in the area such as kayaking, biking, and boating- to name a few. Our Summer Day Camp sits on 60 acres in Pittsgrove that includes a Lakefront.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience directly managing aquatics facilities (required), YMCA experience preferred
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience directly overseeing and developing staff required
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a camp setting with a lakefront preferred but not required
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the development and monitoring of budgets for an aquatics department preferred
- YMCA Team Leader Certification preferred but not required
- Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred
- Waterfront Lifeguard Certification preferred
- Must possess and maintain current certifications in Lifeguarding, Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, and First Aid and O2 administration through organizations that are accepted by the CCA YMCA
- Current Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred but not required
- Current swim instructor certification that is accepted by the CCA YMCA preferred but not required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with Microsoft Suite and web-based programs
- Experience with Daxko preferred but not required
- Must complete any and all required trainings within 60 days of hire including, but not limited to, Employee Orientation, Stewards of Children
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

- Must be able to possess vision clarity from a distance of less than 20” and up to and beyond 75 feet
- Must be able to possess the ability to judge distance and space relationships, so as to be able to see objects where they actually are
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, and lift
- Must be able to physically perform, demonstrate, and pass the required skills to maintain Lifeguard certification and any and all certifications related to Lifeguard certification
- Noise levels may be moderate to loud
- Temperature and humidity levels are those that will be found in an indoor pool setting
