BRG Bartender Job Description:
Bartenders are responsible for fulfilling all of the beverage service orders. This includes sodas, espresso beverages, pouring all beer and wine, and crafting all cocktails. They also tend to any guests sitting at the bar or that walk up to get a drink while waiting for a table.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Welcome Guests within one minute of arrival.
- Prepare all cocktails to spec of the restaurant, efficiently and consistently.
- Give the same standard of service to guests as they would receive in the dining room.
- Must be able to remember several drink recipes at a time to ensure the quickest service possible.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of standard cocktail recipes as well.
- Setting up and breaking down the bar, including wiping down all surfaces, sweeping the floor in the entire surrounding area, wiping down chairs, washing bar mats, and wiping all liquor bottles clean and capping them.
- Having an in-depth knowledge of the food and beverage menus and keeping up with any changes which happen frequently.
- Orders are entered via POS System with accuracy. Every drink made must be rung into the POS.
- Follow company cash handling procedures.
- Keeping track of all open tickets as well as closed out credit card receipts.
- Prioritizing tickets orders so that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Alerting managers and servers of any bar item that runs out to ensure a guest does not order it.
- Restocking bar with backup supplies of all materials both at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Responsible for all cash transactions for the restaurant. Taking cash from servers and hosts and transferring checks so that all the cash from the shift is in one place.
- Must count the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure the correct amount of money is in it.
- Keeping the bar cooler clean and organized. Paying attention to rotating, dating, and labeling items.
- Maintaining overall cleanliness of the bar throughout the shift. Including dusting shelves, properly cleaning up any spills, wiping down surfaces consistently, and sanitizing glassware and bar paraphernalia.
- Check identification of bar patrons to ensure state age requirements for the purchase of alcoholic beverages is properly followed.
- Maintain a knowledge of food pairings.
- Prepare garnish and set up bar for service before opening.
- Wash and sterilize bar glassware.
- Communicate effectively with other team members throughout service while exhibiting good teamwork skills.
- Strong professional presence which includes arriving to work on time, ready to work and in clean, proper uniform.
- Maintains awareness of and follows service standards.
- Display integrity and honesty in all aspects of employment.
- Performs side work and closing duties independently and thoroughly including maintaining proper set up, cleanliness and organization of bar.
- Work efficiently and complete required tasks within assigned time frame.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and participate in a meaningful way.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role, preferred.
- ATC Responsible Vendor’s License
- Basic math and computer/tablet skills.
- Ability to stay professional in a stressful work environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a professional manner.
- Superb multitasking skills and an eye for detail.
- Available to work different hours including weekends, days, nights, and holidays.
- Positive, engaging personality and professional appearance.
- Ability to uphold company standards relating to appearance and dress.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong task and time management abilities.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods (eight or more hours). Able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum weight up to 50 lbs. Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day. Able to reach above head and shoulder levels. Able to twist, kneel, bend and crawl. Able to squat and crouch. Able to perform sweeping motion, front-to-back and side-to-side. Able to work in confined spaces. Able to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals. Able to climb stairs and ladders.
