Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Director of Student Programming will be a member of the Division of Student Development and Success and will provide essential leadership and training to student organizations. Most notably, the colleague will take the lead on male student programming and will implement strategies and efforts to support male student retention within the framework of the University's overall retention goals. While the position will broadly support all student clubs and organizations, a key focus will be on implementing initiatives designed to enhance leadership and involvement for male students. Some evening and weekend commitments will be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Male-Student Support and Retention (50%)

*Develop and implement programmatic efforts designed to enhance community and belonging for male students at Converse.

*Assess the effectiveness of programmatic efforts by developing appropriate metrics and ta rgets aligned with the University's retention goals.

*Oversee programming budget and maintain detailed records for all expenditures.

*Work with campus partners to execute strategies designed to encourage male student involvement on campus (e.g. living-learning community).

*Recruit male students for campus involvement and leadership opportunities

General Programmatic Support (35%)

*In collaboration with the Dean of Students, support the following tasks:

-Advising student clubs and organizations including support for advisors

-Reviewing contracts and commitments for student-led events

-Participating in planning and facilitating student events and activities as planned by SGA and its various constituents.

-Assist with the implementation of SGA elections, working with student leaders to identify p otential candidates for all positions

Other Duties (15%)

*Attend monthly divisional meetings

*Supervise student workers (as needed)

*Teach one section of Student Success Seminar each Fall

*Participate in the divisional on-call rotation

*Other duties as assigned by the Associate Provost for Student Success

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications:

-Master's degree in higher education and/or student affairs

-Experience and professional interest in student activities and leadership development at the post-secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Familiarity with Jenzabar

-Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

-Ability to collect and organize data for process improvement

-Strong interpersonal skills

-Experience with male recruitment and retention efforts at the post-secondary level.

GUIDELINES AND SUPERVISION: The director's office is located in the Montgomery Student Center and reports to the Associate Provost for Student Success.

Work Schedule:

M-Th 8:00 -5:00 PM

F 8:00 -1:00 PM

This is a 12-month appointment.
