Job Description and Qualifications AIR PRODUCTS AND CHEMICALS, INC. POSITION DESCRIPTION I. ORGANIZATION POSITION TITLE: Commercial Director, NEOM Green Hydrogen Project REPORTS TO: Manager, Commercial Execution, ESPS and VP, NEOM Projects INCUMBENT: New Position Grade: 117 GROUP: ESPS DATE: November 2023 DEPARTMENT: Equipment Sales & Plant Support (ESPS) LOCATION: NEOM, Saudi Arabia II. POSITION SUMMARY The incumbent is accountable for the Commercial and Prime Contract Management of the NEOM Green Hydrogen EPC Project, including: a 2.400 GW solar power plant; a 1.625 GW wind farm; battery storage facilities for power storage; an electrical grid system to connect the various facilities and (backup) connection(s) to the primary electrical grid; a 2.2 GW hydrogen electrolysis plant; a 103,000 Nm3 per hour (N2) air separation unit (ASU); hydrogen and nitrogen storage facilities; nameplate capacity of 1.4 Mtpa green ammonia plant and storage; and a maritime offloading facility including a connection to the ammonia storage facility. This project is one of the largest and most complex capital projects for Air Products and is transformational for the organization and beyond. The first industrial-scale mega project to provide a green energy carrier worldwide to contribute to the industry's decarbonization. This position's complexity is derived from the size and contract structure of this project, with a large number of executing parties, engineering offices, global suppliers, modular fabrication, and construction sites at the same time. Additionally, unique quality challenges stem from the individual specifics of the scope of each element. Reporting to the VP of NEOM Green Hydrogen and the global head of Commercial Execution, the Commercial Director will support the EMEA Project Execution and Manufacturing organization in achieving its business goals in NEOM. This position, the Commercial Director, NEOM Green Hydrogen project, is the senior stakeholder responsible for the commercial and prime contract management of the NEOM Green Hydrogen project and is the key commercial point of contact between Air Products and NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (JV). This individual will ensure the effective delivery of the contract requirements, including client relationship management, billing and invoicing, negotiating variations and claims between the NEOM Green Hydrogen Company and Air Products, and managing commercial risk. The role will also maintain oversight of commercial project execution, focusing on project delivery to contract terms through participation in key internal and external project review meetings and close collaboration with the NEOM VP and Project Directors. The position will be supported by direct reports: a Senior Commercial Manager, a Commercial Manager, and a Contracts Administrator. The position is located at our site offices in NEOM, KSA, and requires additional international travel. III. NATURE AND SCOPE The NEOM Green Hydrogen project, the keystone of Air Products' green hydrogen and green ammonia investment ambitions, requires a dedicated Director for Commercial Management throughout the execution phase. The ESPS business area provides commercial functional leadership for Air Products' delivery of EPC or equipment sale projects to partners and joint ventures and world-scale mega-projects. IV. Contract review, assessment, and guidance of all commercial agreements with NEOM Green Hydrogen Company Contracts management through to final account resolution & close-out Variation orders and claims development for delay and disruption, changes in specification, and scope of work growth. Assisting schedule control with delay analyses for extension of time Claims Issuing Contractual letters to the Owner Day-to-day guidance and direction of the Commercial Managers on the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project. Technical degree (or equivalent); Masters/MBA a plus 15+ years of relevant experience Strong customer orientation and ability to communicate and work with external customers. Thorough understanding of EPC-type contracts and finance. Ability to work cross-functionally inside Air Products Excellent written and oral communication skills Negotiating skills Attention to Detail Assessment of Commercial Risk Excellent project management expertise A background in industrial gas technology, renewables, or process gases is valued.
