Halifax Health is seeking a Business Analyst II Revenue Cycle Chargemaster for the Patient Business and Financial Services (PBFS) Department.

The Business Analyst II: Revenue Cycle – Chargemaster will perform various functions related to the accuracy/potentiality of charging across multiple departments for Halifax Health. This role will assist and serve as a primary project team member driving the best practices and needs of the organization for the hospital chargemaster (CDM) for Halifax Health. This role will do so in compliance with governmental regulations by adding, activating, inactivating and removing charges as needed from the EPIC EHR. This role will serve as a liaison, interpreter and peer leader for revenue cycle, clinical and administrative departments to identify and communicate issues, opportunities and continuous improvement recommendations related to charge entry and charge capture. This role will work closely with the finance/IT departments to ensure the appropriate mapping, configuration and totals are reported accurately across reporting systems.

• Require master’s degree or higher in below field (will substitute education requirement to bachelor’s degree with applicable experience)
• Healthcare administration, business administration, finance, computer science or healthcare related field. Equivalent experience in related role will be accepted to supplement educational requirement
• AAPC CPC/Revenue integrity certification preferred, not required (may be substituted with applicable CDM or billing experience
• Clinical or revenue cycle experience in EPIC healthcare system in an inpatient or outpatient setting
• Experience in at least one Epic module: Prelude, Cadence or Grand Central (preferred, not required)
• Certification in applicable Epic module (preferred, not required)

  • Experience interacting with ICD-10, CPT and HCPC codes and the relationships they hold to charge entry and revenue cycle processing

     

  • Exposure or experience in revenue cycle processing from the point of intake through the point of a resolved account balance

     

  • Understanding of the interactions and relationships between the technical applications within the EHR environment and the payer processing cycle

     

  • Experience in the following systems preferred: Meditech, Athena, NThrive (Code Correct), 3M

     

  • Ability to communicate effectively with subject matter experts to ensure application usage and utilization meets needs of department

     

  • Ability to stay informed of regulatory and compliance related changes that impact charges and the Chargemaster as a whole

     

  • Ability to keep up to date with industry financial and system related advances

• Drive projects in coordination with IT/Finance departments as part of EPIC implementation to ensure the build of the Chargemaster supports operational needs for hospital and professional revenue cycle functions
• Coordinate and collaborate with finance, accounting clinical, and revenue cycle leaders to ensure that charges being captured are being represented appropriately
• Support to manage and maintain the integrity of the Chargemaster by ensuring additions, changes, activations and inactivation’s are completed in a timely manner balancing other needs of the organization
• Provide education, training and consistent feedback loops across clinical departments to ensure the integrity and revenue potentiality of charges are being maintained
• Support the needs of the Chargemaster to maintain compliance and keep good standing for required CPT/HCPC codes within the EPIC system
• Work with team to review charge rejections, errors and opportunities for improvement, communicating back to the departments focused on continuous improvement
• Complete and participate in projects related to new or closed service lines offered by the institution to serve as the subject matter expert related to charges and charging
• Other duties as assigned
