Job Summary: The Systems Technician & Audio/Visual (AV) Specialist performs a variety of highly skilled work with the purpose of maintaining school district technology infrastructure. This includes managing the enterprise workstation environment, creating software deployments, installing and repairing server and network hardware, installing and updating server software.
Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 12: $30.54 - $40.44 DOE
Work Day: 7.5 hours per day
Work Year: 12 months
Retirement: State of Alaska PERS
Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)
Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four (4) years of experience in IT infrastructure installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Must possess knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Apple operating systems.
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to read, understand, and evaluate blueprints, specifications, operating and maintenance manuals, and transfer that knowledge to field repairs.
- Must have the ability to make decisions, use safe procedures, work under adverse environmental conditions, plan, layout, and complete complex assignments.
- Must have the ability to operate a wide variety of hand and power tools, equipment and diagnostic equipment.
- Must hold and maintain a valid State of Alaska driver’s license and the ability to receive and maintain access to military bases.
- Must be able to provide own transportation to perform school visits.
- Must be willing to carry a district-provided cell phone.
- Proficiency in sound reinforcement techniques.
- Familiarity with remote-operated camera switchers.
- Experience in managing live and online presentations.
- Ability to understand the needs of the end user and translate those needs into device specifications and attain vendor quotes for purchases.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
