Position Summary:
The District Manager of Retail Store Operations ensures the highest level of customer service throughout each assigned store. Acts as a role model and a leader to all C-store managers and store Team Members and maximizes the workforce to achieve maximum results in profitable sales and excellence in customer service. The District Manager of Retail Store Operations is responsible for the successful profitable sales growth inside and outside of the store and excellence in the delivery of Wilcox and Flegel customer service, store team development, and achieving financial goals as well as brand standards through continuous attention to the store environment and development of the store managers. The District Manager of Retail Store Operations ensures that Team Member relations, talent acquisition, performance management, training, talent reviews, and other talent management needs are met. Responsible to consistently role model our Core Values.
Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develops store level management teams through effective workforce planning and encompass an overall passion for developing people.
- Delivers the customer experience by achieving Wilcox and Flegel brand standards, team member engagement, as well as safe and secure store conditions.
- Provides focus and clarity of expectations for successful prioritization of work by Store Managers.
- Partners with Director of Retail Operations, Store Managers and Human Resources Team on workforce planning, effective scheduling and maintaining staffing levels.
- Maintains awareness of talent and recruiting needs to help achieve a qualified candidate pipeline.
- Supports a sales driven culture through guidance to Store Managers and teams on proper merchandising, pricing, and highly effective ordering and inventory control management.
- Works with assigned Store Managers to develop short- and long-term goals in alignment with our Vision/Traction Organizer, and C-Store and Cardlock goals for areas of responsibility.
- Maintains a frequent and regular presence in stores across all days and shifts to lead, coach, inspire, and set expectations.
- Educates store level management and provides training of all tools and reports available to them.
- With store managers, meets or exceeds metrics, goals, standards, and targets.
- Understands and monitors local market, competition, industry trends, and online reviews.
- Facilitates resolution of escalated issues from customers, team members, vendors, and colleagues in a timely manner.
- Builds relationships across departments with corporate partners, investors, vendors, and the local professional community.
- Acts as an ambassador of change management by educating store managers and team members about the benefits of change, gaining alignment, and sharing feedback upstream.
- Ensures compliance with corporate policy and procedure as well as local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manages and resolves crisis situations with agility, speed, and effectiveness.
- Oversees Store Managers process and decision in hiring, coaching, promoting, disciplining, and termination decisions.
- Ensures successful training and proficiency of store teams.
- Oversees the success implementation and execution of the operations and people plan for assigned stores and for any new stores from pre-opening through stabilization and profitability.
- Leads Store Managers to Achieve or exceed store budgets and profitability through both profitable sales growth, fuel gallons growth, and optimization of cost accounts (e.g., labor, cost of goods, margin growth, etc.)
- Collaborates with store managers on issues of store cleanliness, maintenance needs, etc.
- Ensures Store Managers and teams are compliant with company policies/procedures.
- Manages all loss prevention activities, in conjunction with Store Managers, to mitigate and minimize loss and risk management.
- Ensures performance standards are maintained to ensure efficiency and quality.
- Provides training and staff development of Store Managers with company objectives in mind.

Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Management or related field and,
- 3-5 years experience in multi-unit C-Store management,
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 3+ years demonstrated successful experience in building and managing winning teams.
- Experience managing store or district level operations for best-in-class convenience or food retailers
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations (note if Required or Preferred):

- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
