Job description
JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of the position is to produce materials according to specifications and on schedule . Needs to know how the different materials react to pressure, heat and shaping procedures. Works with machinery to bend, form, stretch, notch, punch or straighten metal/plastic plates and produce structural shapes as specified by blueprints, drawing, templates or layout. Materials produced must be checked for quality and conformance before released to internal/external customers and correct any inconsistencies that have occurred. They are also responsible for the proper care and safety procedures associated with operating the machinery.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: (List in order of importance)
Function Operate Press Brake Procedures:
- Ability to run a fully functional number control press brake set up sheet for assigned machine
- Perform bends and angles while understanding the working mechanics of standard tooling (radius, angle, vee)
- Mathematically figure bend deductions, convert decimal/metric/fractions and figure flat pattern of parts containing 90 degree bends
- Use computer software to pull dimensions on specific parts or model files and understand customers supplied flat patterns (use these specific parts or model files to run variable bending conditions)
Follow instructions concerning installing and removing tooling, bending direction, taper and dimensional corrections and angular adjustments
Following instructions for scanning jobs in and out correctly, logging and identifying parts prior to leaving Press Brake area and accurately repeat bending sequence
Effectively read square and dial calipers on O.D./I.D. dimensions and measure specified dimensions from print and record data on SPM Integrity Check Form
Ability to understand print notes, apply notes and dimensions to the forming of a part and record data on the SPM Integrity Check Form
File out process reject and process change documentation (DIR/CAR)
Responsible for checking the end product to ensure it meets customer specifications and SPM quality standards. Raise quality issues to the next level if quality is compromised.
Ensure you follow all SPM safety procedures associated with operating machinery, plant requirements and other safety regulations
Attend all required training, seminars or other skills set instruction
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
SPECIALIZED JOB SKILLS: Briefly describe additional work skills (other than educational experience listed above) required to perform the position’s responsibilities
- Blueprint Reading
- Correctly use various measuring devices: Calipers, Tape Measure, Protractor, Height Gauge
- Transact operation through ERP system accurately
- Can understand the parts of reading work orders: Part number ID, STD/EST run rates
- Understands the MRB Process: DIR/OFI, Generating Suspect Tags
- Properly inspect own parts
- Correctly handle machine: Safety Features, hand & finger pinch points, safe hand placement, ergonomics, stroke height, pressure gage displays, allowable pressure per tooling
WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL: Describe work environment and travel requirements that are essential to this position.
Air-Conditioned Plant environment with variety of conditions. Regularly required to stand. Protective clothing, eyewear, masks and shoes are required. Maximum weight limits 55 pounds.
