WHAT YOU'LL DO
As part of the Engineering Department, the R&D Technician will install, run, and maintain equipment used to develop, test, produce, and sustain aircraft. New aircraft designs undergo years of testing before they are put into service. As part of the job, a technician often sets up test configurations, such as test fixtures, and determines the causes of equipment malfunctions. A Technician's work is critical to ensuring the safety and precision of key parts of our aircraft and systems. Other expectations may include:
- Meet with design engineers to discuss details and implications of test procedures
- Build and maintain test facilities & fixtures for aircraft systems
- Make and install parts and systems to be tested in test equipment & fixtures
- Install instrumentation and sensors on test articles, such as strain gages and potentiometers
- Record and safekeeping data from performed testing
- Make sure that test procedures are performed smoothly and safely
- Monitor and ensure quality in producing systems that go into the aircraft
- Familiar with hand and power tools
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:
- Associate’s degree in engineering technology or a related field
- May consider candidates who have a high school diploma with related job skills
- Skills in hydraulics systems, welding and machining
- Experience with various types of hand tools and power tools
- Proficient in checking dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and precision scales
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements
- Able to work well independently or in a team
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future
