Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for design, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of a large, complex regional enterprise network including physical cabling, switches, firewalls, security devices and wireless infrastructure
Installation, termination, repair, testing and maintenance of Ethernet and fiber optic cabling following company standards
Performs troubleshooting on the network and servers to determine root cause, analyze alternative solutions and implementation of the best course of action
Develop, monitor, analyze and report on logs, network downtime, network usage trends, network metrics, security and network related alerts
Experience with VMware virtualization and associated network configurations
Provide system administration to install, maintain, and troubleshoot network applications, software, network monitoring tools, network management servers, and network appliances
Installation of system patches, and upgrades to network/security components regularly
Assists in the implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure proper and secure operation of the LAN/WAN/WLAN environment
Monitoring the 24x7 environment for faults, capacity and security and taking corrective action as needed
Perform system backups for the various networking components and ensure that all backups are maintained properly in-house and off-site based on our backup policies
Providing 2nd-level support for end user desktop issues
Continuously updates all infrastructure documentation
Participate regularly in rotational weekend and off-hours on-call support
Cross-training IT staff for emergency level one support of other IT support areas (Storage, Cloud Services, Operating Systems, Email, Networking, VLANs, etc.) and providing support to all aspects of IT when the primary technicians are not available
Follow established change control and security practices, processes and procedures Maintain good working relationships with users, department managers, vendors and other IT professionals to continuously improve the ability of the department to meet its mission
Ability to work off-hours to perform system upgrades during maintenance windows
Participate in special projects as appropriate
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Ability to organize, set priorities, work as a team or independently
Excellent written verbal communications skills required
Must be self-motivated with strong sense of ownership
Must have a valid driver s license
Must be able to pass background checks
Education/Experience:
Bachelor s degree in an Information Technology field and/or equivalent experience. CCNP/ CCIE, VCAP6-DCV, HPASE or similar certifications preferred
Network hardware installation, maintenance and troubleshooting (HP/Extreme preferred)
Experience with Ethernet and fiber optic cabling and termination
solid understanding of IP, LAN\WAN\WLAN technologies and protocols, switching and routing, wireless, cabling, security, firewall and VPN configuration
Expert knowledge of HP\Extreme Networking (or similar) in a distributed environment
Expert knowledge of firewalls, security devices and wireless devices (Fortinet/Cisco preferred)
Expert knowledge of best security practices
Configuration of STP, OSPF, IGRP, QoS, BGP, SNMP, L2/L3 VLANs, ACL s, VRRP, Load Balancers, SSL
Experience with VMWare Horizon (View) and VMware vSphere
Experience in managing/networking Storage Area Networks (HP Preferred)
Network Tools including OPManager, IPAM, Netflow tools, Fluke Brand analyzers and fiber splicin
