Under the general direction of the Supervising Engineer, WR in the Outreach and Engagement Section of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Office (SGMO), in the Executive Division, the Senior Engineer, WR, serves in a supervisory role and performs, plans, organizes, leads, and reviews complex water resource development, investigations, and engineering studies to support the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).

This position is eligible to participate in a hybrid telework schedule requiring a minimum of one day in the office per week. Participation in telework is subject to the Department’s and SGMO’s policies and supervisor approval.

The Sustainable Groundwater Management Office (SGMO) is responsible for overseeing groundwater management efforts, including implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), publishing California’s Groundwater - Bulletin 118, and serving as a statewide hub for groundwater data, information, communication, and assistance efforts to ensure the long-term reliability of California’s groundwater resources to support the State’s people, environment, agriculture, and economy.

Special Requirements

This position is covered in the Political Reform Act and requires financial disclosure within 30 days of the first and last day physically worked in a covered position and annually by April 1st.
