Job description

Responsible for cleaning and maintaining endoscopes, endoscopic equipment, and automated scope re-processors. Responsible for ensuring strict infection control processes are properly followed in day to day operations. Responsible for QI completed and documented in the scope room. Responsible for the set up for procedures and room turnover. Assist the nurse and physician during procedures. Answer phones; take messages and relay information appropriately.

Cleaning and maintenance of endoscopes and equipment. Clean endoscopes and other equipment per manufactures guidelines. Performs cleaning and disinfection of endoscopes and ancillary equipment. Demonstrates proficiency in reprocessing of scopes and equipment. Maintain scope washers and washer adapters. Check detergent levels and effectiveness of disinfectant as per policy. Effectively communicates information regarding scope repairs, loaners, supplies and QI information by maintaining documentation of all actions. Wears PPE as per policy, maintains supplies needed for cleaning and reprocessing, and communicates effectively equipment failures and needed repairs. Accurately records data in appropriate logs. Report malfunctioning equipment to Lead Endo Tech, Director, or Assistant Director.

Participates in workflow process. Anticipates patient/dept. needs. Responsible for stocking supplies, maintaining equipment, and the set up and turn-over of procedural rooms. Maintains a safe, efficient, and clean patient environment.

Performs direct patient care. Anticipates and prioritizes patient needs. Collaborates with RN and/or other licensed professionals regarding plan of care. Consistently reports accurate patient observations in a timely manner. Consistently provides compassionate, caring, and individualized care. Perform patient care appropriate to patient's condition, needs and/or age. Assist patient with toileting, undressing and dressing, and transport from arrival to the unit until discharge to patient's car or patient hospital room. Assist in connecting patient to monitor for BP, heart rhythm and rate, temperature, and SPO2 monitor. During procedure participate in time-out, provide oral suction as needed, assist with specimen collection, and assist nurse/physician with therapy and devices. Maintain competencies as prescribed by department annual Endoscopy Technician checklist.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or equivalent, Required
Successful completion of SGNA Associates Program preferred


EXPERIENCE:

Prior endoscopy experience, Preferred


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

REQUIRED
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
PREFERRED
