Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation: $18-$21 per hour DOE

What’s a typical day as a Composites Operator? You’ll be:

• Skilled in the lay-up and precision placement of malleable elastomeric materials, often working in small/narrow cavities with tight tolerance requirements

• Performing skilled hand layup with precision accuracy of dissimilar materials

• Combining elastomer, dry fabrics, pre-impregnated fabric, resin, metal inserts, etc. to make reinforced seals

• Maintaining exceptional attention to detail to consistently layup materials to within thousands of an inch and maintain acceptable yield percentage

• Building tight tolerance components with patience and care

• Assisting in root cause corrective action by identifying process issues and implementing changes to improve yield

• Working on multiple jobs/tools throughout the course of a day while maintaining acceptable part quality

• Using hand tools, measurement devices, and equipment to perform the job

• Following all policies and procedures, including Quality Management System and environmental health and safety guidelines

• Reading and understanding process routers and travelers

• Performing visual in-process inspection of product and segregating non-conforming product from production

• Maintaining and caring for tools, molds, machines, and equipment

• Participating in process improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives

• Recommending process improvements to lead, project engineer, or manager

• Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:

• Are a high school graduate

• Have two plus years of experience working in a manufacturing environment

• Have prior experience with layup and elastomer/composite fabrication (a plus)

• Can read routers, blueprints, and schematics
