Senior Network Infrastructure Engineers provides engineering services and level 3 support associated with KofCs network, firewall, and telephone infrastructure both on-premises and in the cloud. Responsible for building, deploying, documenting, and maintaining functional, optimized, and secure network and telecom environments.

Designs, configures, recommends, integrates, and/or constructs functional network and telecom infrastructure on-premises and in the cloud.
Provides network infrastructure services in support of information technology and business project activities, often serving as members of a project team.
Senior Network Infrastructure Engineers are accountable for management and resolution of incident, problem, service request and change management assignments, as well as providing level 3 support & services (evaluate, diagnose & resolve) for complex work items level 1 and 2 support cannot resolve/satisfy. Frequently requires engagement with internal KofC departments, external partners and/or vendors.

Job Responsibilities

The following duties reflect the primary responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Incumbent(s) may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

Responsibility

Analyze, review and design enterprise class network and telecom systems based on industry experience, research, vendor interaction, proof of concepts and labs.
Setup and configure network hardware, operating systems, applications, utilities, services, and other related network infrastructure in support of information technology and business project activities, serving as a member of a project team.
Upgrade, maintain, and administer existing network infrastructure including switches, routers, proxy servers, firewalls, load balancers, VPN appliances, DNS/DHCP servers, and IDS/IPS devices.
Monitors KofC network and telecom systems and provides 24x7x365 level 3 network support. Works closely with Infrastructure Operations to troubleshoot, manage, and resolve incident, problem, service request and change management assignments.
Develop and maintain project plans, standards, procedures, policies, diagrams, proposals, security documentation, troubleshooting guides, inventory lists, and resource plans. Adhere to network documentation and policies.
Configure and manage network resources on cloud platforms, including virtual networks, subnets, ExpressRoute, and security groups
Monitor network performance, proactively identify and resolve network-related issues for both on-premises and cloud based environments
Optimize network configurations for cost-efficiency and performance
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards. and regulations
Drive continuous improvement efforts to streamline cloud network operations
Ensure network scalability, reliability, and security across cloud environments
Participates in disaster recovery & business continuity planning and testing.
On-Call and/or after-hours work required

The depth and breadth of knowledge within the positions field or specialty that is required to effectively perform the responsibilities of this position, e.g., insurance, KofC structure and processes. Systems/Technical Knowledge:

Hardware: Enterprise class network hardware from Arista, Cisco/Meraki, Client Aruba, Palo Alto, F5, and Fortinet
Network Operating Systems: Arista EOS, Arista CloudVision, Cisco IOS, PAN OS, Fortinet OS, and Aruba ClearPass
LAN/WAN: Ethernet, T-1/T-3, Broadband Internet, Metro Ethernet, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), IDF/Distribution /Core layers
Telephony: VOIP, UCaaS, and CCaaS, SIP
Network Protocols & Services: Including but not limited to EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, WINS, SMTP, SNMP, FTP, IPSEC VPN, NAC, and MFA solutions
Network tools and applications: Gigamon, CASB, Packet Capture and Analysis (Fiddler, Wireshark etc)
Network Scripting (Python, Perl, JSON, XML, etc) are a plus
Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio

Interactions

Within KofC:

Collaborates with Strategy and Architecture, Solution Delivery Teams, Infrastructure Operations, and End User Services to ensure business requirements translate into business solutions resulting in business value.
Clearly communicates solution design and support requirements to tier 1 and 2 supports groups using a variety of communication styles.
Collaborates with Senior Solutions Architects and Enterprise Solutions Delivery teams to implement solutions.
Collaborates with stakeholders at all levels

Outside of KofC:

Cultivates a knowledge of emerging technologies and best practices and evangelizes them within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services and Solutions Delivery teams.
Communicates with outside vendors and managed service providers regarding new and emerging technologies, product implementation and product support.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education: BS or BA in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent combination of experience and training.

Experience: 7 to 10 years of experience in design, engineering and administration of on-premises and cloud hosted network and firewall infrastructure or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensing/Certification: CISCO CCNP/CCDP and Azure Cloud experience preferable
