Responsibilities:
- Provide competent legal services from the beginning of a case to trial, which includes conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, overseeing discovery, and updating case status
- Develop and implement effective legal strategies, offering advice to clients on their best legal options, and acting as the main point of contact between the firm and clients
- Represent clients in various legal proceedings such as mediations, depositions, trials, and hearings
- Prepare clients, experts, witnesses, and other parties for legal proceedings by consulting and assisting with necessary preparations
- Train and supervise staff, including Junior Associates and Contract Attorneys, by assigning tasks and monitoring their work
- Assist with marketing activities by attending events, writing articles, and participating in speaking engagements
- Take on additional responsibilities as required to support the firm's operations and goals
Qualifications:
- Must be licensed to practice law in Texas and be in good standing with the Texas Bar Association
- Should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in family law, including handling over 20 contested property trials and 20 contested custody bench trials as the lead attorney
- Must hold a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Proficiency in legal research tools, such as Word, Outlook, Dropbox, and electronic legal research platforms, is essential
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively promote oneself as a skilled family law litigator
- A positive attitude towards challenges and a strong work ethic are necessary
- Must meet minimum billable requirements and be an excellent writer
- Belief in teamwork and a desire to contribute to the success of the team's mission
- Ability to think strategically and execute tasks efficiently
- Desire to help others with compassion and understanding
- Must be confident, independent, decisive, and take responsibility for actions
- Enjoys learning new things, is detail-oriented, and can work well under pressure
