Job description
Our research group is inviting applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate appointment in the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative drug discovery research project by conducting synthetic organic chemistry in support of medicinal chemistry hit-to-lead and lead optimization structure-activity and structure property campaigns.
We are seeking enthusiastic candidates with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and laboratory experience in organic synthesis, various purification techniques, and use of various key instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, LC-MS, NMR). Candidates must be able to interpret experimental data and troubleshoot when experimental problems arise.
Specifically, we are seeking ideal candidates with the following experience and qualifications:
Suitable candidates must be highly motivated, have excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to work and propose solutions to chemistry problems independently. Importantly, we are seeking candidates that work well with a team and possess a polite and friendly demeanor in the workplace. Suitable candidates are also expected to contribute to the training and instruction of graduate and undergraduate students. In addition, candidates are expected to maintain a safe laboratory environment and strictly follow laboratory safety procedures.
