Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Design

• Analyze learning needs to determine instructional goals and develop behavioral learning objectives.
• Utilize the established OUCCAS instructional design process to develop effective and engaging instructional materials to achieve learning objectives.
• Use learning science principles to support selection of instructional modalities and methodologies.
• Utilize instructional design and adult learning principles to create learner-centric experiences.
  • Create interactive and multimedia-rich learning products, including visual presentations, e-learning modules, videos, infographics, and assessments.
  • Ensure design is accessible, inclusive, and meets industry standards and best practices.
  • For some courses, take ownership of course design and development from handoff to final publication and LMS upload.
  • Create explainer videos using tools like Camtasia, Audacity, Biteable, Vyond and/or Canva.

Collaboration:

• Collaborate with subject matter experts, educators, and multimedia specialists to gather input and feedback for module development.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of instructional materials into various learning platforms.

Technology Integration:

• Stay abreast of emerging educational technologies and tools to enhance instructional design and delivery.
• Leverage the learning management system (LMS) and other online platforms to deliver and manage content effectively.
• Troubleshoot functionality and user access issues with self-directed courses in collaboration with the LMS team.

Project Management:

• Use project plans, storyboards, and project management software to guide the development of learning products.
• Manage multiple instructional design projects simultaneously, adhering to project deadlines.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met and to effectively communicate progress and challenges.

Other Responsibilities:

• Lead and/or participate in initiatives necessary to successful completion of deliverables.
• Maintain self-directed online courses to ensure they remain current and fully functional.
• Collaborate with the continuous quality improvement team to assess training effectiveness and otherwise participate in continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain currency in the field of practice.

Additional Position Information:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or related field and 2+ years working as an Instructional Designer.
• Portfolio that includes a variety of e-learning projects.
• Proficiency in instructional design methodologies, learning theories, and best practices.
• Passion for learning and a commitment to staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in instructional design and educational technology.
• Experience designing and creating interactive, accessible learning objects using Articulate Storyline or equivalent software.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a keen eye for detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with practice related to child welfare, social work, or related field.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and universal design principles in education.
• Advanced knowledge of SCORM standards.
• Experience with Cornerstone Learning on Demand LMS.
