Job description

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and General Accounting, the Assistant Manager of General Accounting supports the Financial Reporting group with a broad array of general accounting functions. The position's primary responsibility is assisting the Manager with daily accounting tasks including financial journal voucher review, oversight of the reconciliations process and staff, and preparation of financial and compliance reports for internal, external reporting, and audit purposes. Tasks also include special projects as directed by the Manager of Financial Reporting and General Accounting.

Required Qualifications:

• Considerable relevant experience with accounting.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with employees, departments, and agencies external to the University and provide customer service in a timely and professional manner.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles
• Previous experience providing oversight processes relating to reconciliation, tax compliance, and/or financial reporting.
• Ability to effectively organize and complete multiple projects or tasks involving various people and departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience working in state government or higher education
• Experience working with Banner financial system
• Experience working with the state's Cardinal financial system
