Job Title: Nurse Manager, PACU
Location: South San Francisco, CA, US
Job Type: Onsite, Permanent
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Salary Range: USD $181,400 $220,000 / yr
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage the operations of 24-hour departments across multiple locations.
- Ensure Assistants and staff provide the highest quality of care and comply with the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Establish, implement, and maintain patient care and service standards to meet members' and internal clients' expectations.
- Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results.
- Develop and monitor budgets for the appropriate use of human and material resources. Identify and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
- Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department and develop processes for screening, interviewing, hiring, training, and maintaining the competency of all department staff. Ensure ongoing staff development. Manage and resolve human resource, employee, and department safety, and risk management issues.
- Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures that support the organization's goals and business objectives and ensure they are met.
- Oversee and develop standards of care and standards of practice, direct fiscal management, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum four (4) years of clinical nursing experience related to the clinical area of specialization, including four (4) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing earned through a direct entry MSN program.
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Requirements:
- Leadership Experience will be permissible for internal applicants only and is defined by the following criteria: demonstrated clinical nursing leadership as a Charge/Senior RN, participation on professional committees inclusive of UBTs, National Certification in Specialty, demonstrated completion of RN Leadership Development Program, and/or demonstrated experiential exposure to Nursing Leadership.
- Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, federal regulations.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills.
- ACLS or PALS certification may be required for positions in specific departments.
- National Certification preferred within 1 year of hire.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of management experience preferred.
- One (1) year of Magnet/shared governance experience preferred.
- One (1) year of managing in a bargaining environment preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- Candidate must have BSN.
- Candidate must have 5 years of ANM or Dept. Manager experience.
- Candidate must have strong experience in PACU.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Union experience.
- MSN or DNP.
- Experience in a similar size as SSF (200 bed) or larger.
