Job description
Our client is looking for a Cloud Developer for a 12-month contract in Irving, TX working fully onsite.
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering.
- 4+ years of experience in Cloud software development (AWS and *nix is the preferred environment), with a focus on Infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager or Terraform.
- 10+ years of experience in software development creating applications and/or REST API services, with languages such as Java, Python or NodeJS, and test automation, such as JUnit or Mocha.
- Previous Java or Node.js Software Developer who has moved to automating the creation of Cloud resources needed for the software.
- Experience building proof-of-concepts to validate new tools and architectures.
- Experience with the full software development lifecycle in an Agile world.
- Full software development lifecycle experience: from design through development, testing, implementation, production, monitoring and support.
- Hands-on development skills key technologies - Java/Groovy, Ansible, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), Docker, Cloud Kubernetes, AWS Lambda/Azure Functions, NoSQL such as MongoDB or DynamoDB.
- REST-based API and web architecture and development.
- Solid understanding of Enterprise architecture, microservices and event driven architecture.
- Experience creating Cloud data stores, such as DynamoDB, S3, Aurora or MongoDB, then coding applications to access those data stores.
- Able to explain design and/or architectural decisions, and contribution to improving the workplace.
- Ability to discuss and promote cloud development best practices.
Desired Skills & Experience - Natural curiosity about how things work and has applied that to learn how software is built and delivered at the enterprise level.
- Experience with Cloud networking, such as AWS VPC, Security Groups, Load Balancer, ASG, as well as cloud security, such as IAM roles and policies.
- Experience deploying applications in containers, such as Docker and Kubernetes, AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service and/or Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Experience with log and metric consolidation tools like NewRelic, ELK, Logz.io or Splunk.
What You Will Be Doing - Lead the analysis and design of solutions, work collaboratively with internal software engineering teams to automate the creation of cloud resources and software artifacts, automate the testing of those artifact and then automate the deployment and monitoring of the solutions.
- Troubleshoot issues with cloud infrastructure-as-code as well as various software languages, with the goal of improving software speed-to-market, quality, and security.
- Must be comfortable mentoring junior developers, talking networking with the cloud team as well as OOD concepts with Java developers.
- With an eye toward continual improvement, propose and lead new and improved solutions in areas ranging from tools to processes to technical skills for Development Teams.
- Contribute to overall body of software development knowledge, including solution options, risk, cost, and impacts.
- Mentor junior developers to help them grow their experience and knowledge.
- Participate actively in code reviews, tool evaluations, documenting new features.
- Interface with multiple software development teams to help them automate their build/deploy/publish processes and adopt the Enterprise CI/CD platform.
- Promote Cloud, Security and DevOps best practices and architectures.
- Help extend the CI/CD platform to support new tools and technologies to facilitate adoption, developing high quality and well-designed code with automated tests.
