Marsh McLennan is seeking candidates for the following position based in the New York office:

Tax Analyst

We will count on you to:

• Prepare financial statement reporting of taxes under ASC 740, including deferred taxes, valuation allowances, state taxes, purchase accounting for acquisitions, share-based payments, tax account reconciliations, and SOX internal controls
• Prepare or review all aspects of federal and state income tax compliance applying tax concepts and knowledge of entities, including state combination, allocation and apportionment, state modifications, net operating losses, and e-filing
• Analyze, prepare, or review tax workpapers and returns, estimated payments, and extensions
• Analyze specific account activities throughout the year (including noteworthy accounts) and determine the proper tax treatment by applying tax concepts and knowledge
• Delegate effectively to staff or interns to promote cost efficiency and career development
• Liaise with accounting colleagues and maintain familiarity with accounting processes, systems, and policies
• Prepare correspondence with tax authorities related to notices and desk audits; assist controversy team in responding to information requests from auditors
• Utilize new technologies or tools and proactively pursue process improvement in both compliance and provision areas
• Work on special projects and stretch assignments, demonstrating eagerness to self-develop and explore new areas

What you need to have:

• College degree with coursework demonstrating an interest in finance, tax, and/or accounting.
• Prior experience up to 3 years in corporate tax compliance and/or basic tax provision experience
• Familiarity with ERP, tax compliance and tax provision software; in particular, Corptax Compliance, OneSource Tax Provision, and/or Hyperion/Oracle ERP Suite

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with initiative and persistence to pursue problems and opportunities

• Strong verbal and written communication and team skills
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $54,600 to $109,200.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
