Job description
As a Payroll Specialist you will complete payroll processing & all aspects associated with it. Reviews, reconciles, audits & balances Payroll documents/files to ensure practices are following company policy as well as regulatory guidelines. Provides customer service for all employees and third-party vendors associated with all aspects of Payroll. Assists with training staff on new procedures and systems and oversees the preparation of special payrolls.
- Performs tasks associated with payroll processing which includes: procedures, auditing, reviewing, balancing, data entry, processing (calculating & confirm), reporting & transmissions to vendors.
- Produces ad hoc reports for various departments for Corporate requirements.
- Completes internal and external reporting to ensure customer needs/requirements are met.
- Partners with the payroll vendor and internal stakeholders to p erform weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual tax preparation and audits of Federal, State and local payroll tax es.
- Maintains accurate record keeping and supporting spreadsheets and documents for all filings and payments.
- Ensures specific compliance requirements are administered timely including but not limited to: DOL, IRS, FLSA, Federal & State regulations, garnishments, levies, court orders, company policy, direct deposit, W-4, escheated property, Sarbanes Oxley audit, internal procedures , and record retention.
- Provides Customer Support including training aspects of Payroll.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education and experience
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of three years of experience with in-house payroll processes, time and attendance experience, or related field
- Experience working in payroll/timekeeping software systems preferred
Certifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferre d
