Pine Forest Children's Center (PFCC) has been providing high quality early childhood education for a diverse community of families in the South End of Burlington since 1988. PFCC is a multi-faceted community which values imagination, integrity, curiosity and responsibility in children and adults. We are innovative, yet with a sense of tradition and attention to the natural world. Our curriculum is emergent and play-based, allowing children to guide their own learning. We plan developmentally appropriate activities that are teacher guided and open ended, utilizing large and small groups, reflecting the best research in early childhood education. We believe in connecting children to the communities in our neighborhood and city and strive to find opportunities to partner on projects when possible.
We have an on site Food Program (CACFP) supported by an on site chef and prepared using local foods. This means that all children have access to free nutritious meals three times a day and mealtimes that are filled with conversation and inquiry. This ensures food equity and access for all children and their families. This program builds a strong foundation for lifelong healthy eating habits and helps children to remain satiated in order to meet their first hour and daily needs.
We are seeking full time early childhood educators to join our strong teaching community. These positions will support classrooms at our school and work amongst teams of teachers. The right candidate will have experience working with varying ages (birth to age 5) or a desire to gain experience working with young children as they grow and develop. Pine Forest Children?s Center is dedicated to the growth and development of the Early Childhood Education field, and we encourage a growth mindset in our educators by providing a community of support, paid professional development, and regular planning time.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated, responsible, flexible team player that loves working with young children and will possess strong communication skills. Duties Applicant will be responsible for supervision of students in their classroom, curriculum planning, classroom management, collaboration with colleagues, and adherence to VT Licensing Regulations and Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS). Early childhood educators have the ability to design their classroom learning environments with their team as well as curriculum design and planning. We use observation and assessment tools (ASQ & TSG) to document each child's growth and learning. We believe in making learning visible for children, families and community members as a way to advocate for children and our field.
- Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
- Work on a team to support the needs of the classroom and the individual children.
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, parent conversations, and developmental summaries.
- Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
- Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center as well as throughout the day.
- Follow all center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality. improvement and professional growth. .
Requirements - Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience.
- Ability to work well with others and offer and receive constructive feedback.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- An understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must clear a full background check.
- Applicant will need to be able to lift 50 lbs, stoop, bend, and lift.
