New Bethlehem Programs, at the Kirkland Place for Families and Women provides 24/7 enhanced shelter, day center, and supportive services to families and women experiencing homelessness on the eastside. Kirkland Place houses 2 organizations, including the Sophia Way’s Helen’s Place, and CCS’ New Bethlehem Place shelter, which share property with Salt House Church. 

 

Position Description

A successful Maintenance Director will have expertise in facilities maintenance, safety, supervision, and project management. This role will lead all facility safety needs, vendor relations, and will respond to after hours facilities emergencies.

They will be part of the Program Management staff, effectively leading on tasks with King County’s Facilities and Maintenance Department, vendors, and New Bethlehem Programs staff to complete tasks. They will ensure that repairs and preventive maintenance are performed and documented for compliance with CCS and King County. The Maintenance Director role is hands-on; able to quickly change priorities to meet emergent needs. perform routine inspections of facilities and fleet vehicles and manage these assets in coordination with the Program Director. This role is involved in preparing the annual maintenance/facilities budget and will lead in monitoring expenses. They will oversee the functioning of all building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire safety, plumbing, and waste management.

Job Conditions

This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material. Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, bedbugs, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance, building temperature fluctuations, dust, noise, and odors. Working conditions include interruptions, crisis response, and regular interactions with individuals who are dealing with issues of chemical dependency and/or mental illness, or are experiencing anger or frustration.
