Job description
Primary Objectives:
- Focuses on improving manufacturing and business processes through the application of Lean Manufacturing and other Operational Excellence principles.
- Create a continuous Improvement (CI) culture that drives behaviors of employees to challenge the status quo in order to deliver sustainable results in safety, quality, cost and delivery. The role will support the business to improve and simplify existing processes and ensure capability of the new ones to drive reliability, predictability and efficiency while making the best use of available resources using continuous improvement methodologies.
Essential Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned and changed as needed)
- Model, teach and implement the following lean concepts: 5S, standardized work charts, spaghetti diagrams, single piece flow, problem solving, value stream mapping, SMED, line balancing, process flow improvement and cycle time improvements.
- Use Industrial Engineering concepts to improve systems based on Man, Machine, Materials and Methods.
- Develop analytical tools to report on productivity indicators, driving action items for quality, equipment and personnel performance.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, equipment utilization, space requirements and workspace layouts for maximum operational efficiency.
- Implement and support cultural change across the organization and drive business improvement.
- Strong understanding of SMED, with the ability to facilitate and lead teams.
- Plan and conduct Kaizen activities that are engaging.
- Find and eliminate the 7 forms of waste in the facility (Transportation, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Overproduction, Over Processing, and Defects).
- Perform Ergonomic studies within the facility, leading the team to reduce our risk assessments.
Requirements:
- LSSGB preferred
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing/production environment.
- A degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or related discipline is highly desirable.
- Sound knowledge of modern manufacturing methodologies and systems planning.
- Cross-functional business team environment experience preferred
- Proven ability to self-manage and deliver on time to budget.
- Excellent inter-personal skills to build relationship internally and externally.
- Reliable and flexible in their approach.
