Lake Forest School District 67 and Lake Forest Community High School District 115 are seeking a Communications Manager.
Description: The Communications Manager regularly and directly assists the Chief Communications Officer, in a confidential capacity, in the development and implementation of the Districts' strategic plans and ongoing communication.
Compensation: $73,500 to $84,000
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Licensure (required and preferred) - Bachelor's Degree in communications, English, journalism, public relations, public affairs, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a professional (education/corporate/nonprofit) communications position
- Experience managing social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook
- Experience generating written and video content for digital and print communication channels
- Experience using graphic design platforms such as Canva
- Experience with Smore digital newsletter platform is a plus

Essential Functions: - Partner with the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) to support the District's vision, mission, and strategic plan through thoughtful, proactive, and transparent communications.
- Serve as backup to CCO on Superintendent and Board communications, as needed
- Develop strategic messaging and FAQs for use by key stakeholders including District Boards and Administration
- Draft and edit District communications including press releases
- Shape social media strategy for each District including managing the content calendars and reporting quarterly on analytics; assess organic and paid ad opportunities as necessary
- Partner in the production and distribution of District digital and print publications including Insight newsletter
- Partner proactively to support District 67 and District 115 building-level internal communication
- Contribute timely updates to the District website
- Partner with the Human Resources Department to draft communications regarding key District recruitment opportunities and personnel information
- Write, edit, and proofread internal and external District messages sent via the Districts' Mass Notification email distribution system
- Support LFHS Alumni Relations with event implementation, biannual newsletter content development, and ongoing initiatives in partnership with LFHS staff
- Assist with crisis communication planning and management
- Provide training and support to parent leaders and administrative staff as needed related to the use of communication platforms in the District
- Attend off-hour District meetings and events as needed
Physical Demands & Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to use hands to manage or feel materials. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
In the work environment, the employee is regularly exposed to video display and regularly works in office environmental conditions. The employee occasionally works in the evenings or on weekends. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally works with the use of a personal vehicle. The employee will have contact with the public which requires appropriate demeanor and apparel. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
